Welcome to The Beach Shack on Wanda, the ultimate destination for a classic Aussie beachfront getaway. The views of the sparkling harbor and the ocean beyond are nothing short of breathtaking. With its long stretches of golden sand and calm waters, the beach is perfect for families. Just a short stroll down the shore leads to a delightful playground for kids, while in the opposite direction, you can fish off the jetty or dine at Rick Stein Restaurant, Cheeky Dog or Solders Point Bowling Club. Children will love swimming, building sandcastles, and playing games in the sandy beach and grassy areas.

This holiday home is inspired by its beachfront location, combining coastal chic style with a relaxed Hamptons vibe. Both the front and back of the property boast hardwood decks. The front deck offers comfortable outdoor furniture and a Weber BBQ, perfect for alfresco dining. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge areas are framed by floor-to-ceiling glass, providing uninterrupted views of the stunning bay and opening directly onto the decks.

The Beach Shack is perfect for two couples or a family with up to four children. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed, a TV, and opens onto the deck with beautiful beach views. The second bedroom, also opening onto the deck, has a zip-bed that can be configured as two extra-long singles or a full king bed, all while enjoying magnificent ocean views. The lounge area includes a sofa bed suitable for two children.

Situated on a spacious lot, The Beach Shack offers ample off-street parking and side space for a boat. Each room is equipped with split-system air conditioning, louvred windows for fresh sea breezes, and ceiling fans. An outdoor hot/cold shower and the original outdoor toilet make cleanup from the beach a breeze. Local shops, including a supermarket, bottle shop, chemist, butcher, café, and the area’s best fish and chips at Salt Mine, are just a couple of minutes away by car.

The property is a walk to Rick Steins at Bannisters, around 1.9 km from Salamander Bay, 2 km from Soldiers Point Marina and 5.1 km from Anchorage Marina Port Stephens. Newcastle Airport is just 30 km from The Beach Shack on Wanda, making it easy to start your vacation in style.

  A great location and tidy cottage but was missing a fair few things that you would expect in Rental property when paying a premium price. Things that would have made the stay more comfortable are, more than 1 wine glass, a clean bbq, and bbq cleaning tool so the people before you or the cleaners can clean it, a bbq spatula, a bed side table lamp for the kids in the 2nd room. More than 1 sharp knife. Nothing huge but just annoying enough to take the shine off our stay. The property Managers were good to deal with but not sure the owners have taken on any previous feedback.

  The location is superb - right on the beach looking east for great sunrises. Soldier’s Point is a quiet residential area. Pub, Bowling Club, Sailing Club and Rick Stein’s restaurant, at Bannisters Hotel, are only a few minutes walk along the beach. Shops and Marina (with 2 restaurants) are a 5 minute drive away.

  Being our fourth stay at the Beach Shack we were very familiar with the property and surrounding area. It’s infact a favourite of our families hence why we’ve returned so many times. It’s unfortunate to see that the cleanliness of the property was not up to the standard you would expect when paying a premium price. Windows were dirty, the previous guests laundry was still in the washer/dryer, coffee pods were left in the coffee machine, children’s stickers were placed randomly around the property and both the clock and hairdryer were missing. A general wear and tear is expected however these examples seemed that there is some amount of neglect from cleaners. The location is incredible and the beds were super comfy but it was disappointing to see the lack of attention to detail which we were used to seeing.

  From the moment you step in you feel instantly relaxed. The views the calming decor and luxurious beds you know your holiday has began on the right foot. Being able to step into the beach and wade into the cool waters of salamander bay was like being the star of your own romantic movie. Everything on the house worked well for the 3 of us, even the quirky outside toilet was appreciated, along with the outdoor shower and easy access to the water to launch our kayak easily. We also loved the convenience of a quick stroll along the beach to great places to eat.

  My husband and I stayed at The Beach Shack on Wanda with our adult son and his partner. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The home looks brand new and has a lovely beach house vibe. Every room has amazing views of the harbour and beach. The view is jaw dropping! Nelson Bay is close by, but to be honest - we didn't want to leave The Beach Shack. We spent our days relaxing on the deck, that feels like it's right on the water's edge, and swimming out front. The home was spotlessly clean and there were lots of extra thoughtful touches we'd never experienced in a holiday house before. Beds were super comfortable and it was lovely to fall asleep with the louvers open listing to the sounds of the water. Next time we'll bring a fishing rod and catch dinner for ourselves. Communication was easy with Stay Port Stephens and Shane and Michelle were very helpful. From our long walks along the beach it looks like beach houses like this are few and far between. We'll be booking this place again soon.

  This is a beautiful property in a fabulous location a step to the beach with wonderful views. For the premium price charged I was disappointed to note a missing light bulb in the main bedroom lamp, frypans not suitable for the induction stove and the ridiculous rule not allowing visitors.

  The Beach Shack was a perfect quaint spot right on the beach for our getaway. We were so impressed that the owners dint pull down the original beach shack and renovated it very minimalistic and tastefully. We had almost everything we needed. Having the beach just outside our door was perfect for our 9month old sons first trip to the beach.
  Pretty special to wake up to that view in the mornings.

  This is a stunning property right on the beach. My husband and I stayed for 10 nights, and it was the perfect size for 2 of us. It has 2 bedrooms, while it says that it sleeps 6, you would be very squashed with any more than 4. It appears to be a new property/renovation, so the paint, decor and furniture is new and fresh. Has a lovely beachy feel. It's right on the beach, absolutely stunning location. Well appointed kitchen, comfy bed, fans and aircons. We would have given it 5 stars except that unfortunately the property was very dirty when we arrived. There was loads of hair all over the floors in all rooms, there were food/marks on the hard floors in the bedroom, bathroom floors were dirty, crumbs on the kitchen floors, bathroom sink had hairs in it etc. The bins outside had also blown over and there was rubbish everywhere across the property (we understand that this can happen!). We called the management company and they did send a cleaner after a couple of chase up calls, who agreed the place was well below standard and he did a great job (while we went out) of getting it clean. This was a very disappointing start - when paying $500 a night for a very small house we certainly expected to arrive and find it spotless, especially in the middle of Covid lockdowns in the state. There was a bottle of wine from the owners on arrival which was a nice touch. We would stay here again, and hope that they have their cleaning issues sorted out!

  What an amazing little house in the most relaxing picturesque spot in Port Stephens. Our family of 4 had the best holiday over the Easter along Weekend. We enjoyed all of the outdoor activities that the area has to offer and then spent time relaxing at the house. Everything was perfect - very clean, well appointed, and great position. We enjoyed walking along the beach in the mornings up to the Salamander Bay shops to get a coffee, and then in the other direction for dinner at Bannisters, and lunch at the marina.   Even though the weather was dreadful the property and and its location is so fantastic it didnt matter. Cannot fault anything with the property it was absolutely beautiful. Will definitely be visiting again.

  What a great location and a beautiful house.
  However being new to the market I cannot understand why it was available for rental when-
  1 there is no wifi installed yet.
  2 there is no guide for guests with information on the property and ins and outs of how things work.
  Upon arrival there is no doubt we were blown away by the location and the setting, beautiful accomodation and very well styled and furnished.
  However having to ring up to find out how to work the television firstly only to be told there’s no wifi as Telstra hasn’t done it yet was not something you want to hear for the cost of the property’s stay. We also got told when asked how appliances work that there wasn’t a welcome book made for guests yet.
  There was a lovely card left on the hall table to welcome us for our stay and to enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine, although there was no wine.
  After asking about how the Tv and wifi work we also asked about the wine, it was later delivered while we were out but having sat on the back doorstep in the sun it was just hot.
  Wanting to cook a bbq breakfast we found the bbq dirty from previous guests and not cleaned, we then had to cook everything in the kitchen and with no instructions at all it took way too much time to work out how to cook things which to be honest was a real negative when there was a bbq outside.
  The home we couldn’t fault, the location amazing, but those small missing things were not really acceptable for the money charged for this home.
  Hopefully future guests will enjoy those necessities in the future.
